I belong to two associations here near Bergerac.
ACFAA is a group of ~18 clubs and a language department that fall under the same banner in Eymet. There are non ACFAA clubs in Eymet as well.
Needless to say, there is a lot to do in Eymet. There are a lot of Britts in Eymet, and while ACFAA accepts the French with open arms, and there are clubs that even teach English to the French, it is predominantly English speaking.
I am the Secretary of Education for the Photography club. I ply my knowledge of cameras, lenses and lighting, along with photographic wisdom to help the club members become better photographers.
It is enriching and keeps me busy during the fall and winter.

Bergerac FabLab at LaTraverse
This one is challenging.
I belong to a FabLab or “maker space” as it is called in the states.
There is not a lot of English spoken there.
Without my license I can’t get there easily without the grace of my wife.
I do like helping out there.
The FabLab just started, I am in on the ground floor. They have a laser cutter and a 3D printer, and a bunch of people that care. They have a repair cafe there as well. where they help people by repairing broken things.
My part there is to try to help them understand the equipment they have, which they do now, and to build fun and exciting projects that people can do, though my emphasis is on kids.
The association work is important for me, I feel a social responsibility to help my community, and this is a fun and enriching way to do that.
