We are moving to France

Actually we made it in April of 2023

Spring

and junk

Life, feelings and what I am up to.

Community involvement

Today is a fun day. I am off to bergerac to help repair and build some educational robot stuff for kids. I am working on building a robotics tech presence to help get kids interested in electronics, software and mechanics.

We are doing Crappy Robots, inspired by Hebocon. Ignore the stuff at around 4:50. We’re not using those for robots…

It’s fun to be involved in the community, and I am looking forward to the day when we can get actual kids in the Fab Lab there to start building stuff.

I also help with the photography club in Eymet, south of Bergerac. I am in charge of education there, and helping a bunch of mostly British, Mostly Retired people up their photography game is fun too.

Friends

During the kitchen demolition days, and the Kitchen Sink is on sawhorses days, and the protracted when will this kitchen ever be done phase, we had a lot of people help demolish the kitchen and have us over to feed them. Today we are repaying some friends in kind and cooking a lunch (we is Michele, I am in Bergerac this morning) and also have some new people coming over that are recent transplants here.

Tomorrow some other friends are coming over for family day, since they are practically family as well.

Spring

We are tentatively saying spring is here. We’re not sure, we could be part of some sort of deception. Flowers and trees are budding and blooming, We haven’t seen minus temperatures for at least a week, and we even keep some windows open during the day (with the fireplace going).

Spring is nice because it is walking weather as well. There is a 2.7 km circuit through the neighborhood, past 2 old mills, some fields and vineyards and the cemetary. Tuesday and Thursdays we wave at the local petanque players.

Cleaning and Trash

We were recently switched away from curbside pickup to having to haul our trash to some collection stations in the village. The stations require a tap card to dispose of your trash trash. There are free bins for cardboard, glass, recyclables.

Yesterday, som absolute shit head left their trash scattered all over the ground by the black bins as a form of protest. Yay.

My office is in need of some serious cleaning as well. Spring is the right time.
